MR ABRAHAM VOSLOO
MEC FOR EDUCATION IN NORTHERN CAPE
Abraham Vosloo is an educator by profession who originates from Askham in the Northern Cape. He matriculated in 1985 at Senior Secondary School Carlton Van Heerden in Upington and obtained a Teacher’s Diploma (1986–1988) and a Higher Diploma in Education (1989) from Perseverance College of Education in Kimberley. He worked as a full-time educator from 1990 to 2005 and served as a SADTU shop steward from 2000 to 2005. In 2005 he entered local government, serving as Director of Corporate Services at the //Khara Hais Municipality and later as Municipal Manager of the !Kai Garib Municipality. He went on to become Speaker and later Executive Mayor (2015) of the ZF Mgcawu District Municipality. A long-standing activist and ANC leader who has served in various community and trade union structures, he was appointed MEC for Roads and Public Works in 2019, later MEC for Finance, Economic Development and Tourism in 2020, and in 2024 became the MEC for Education in the Northern Cape.
